Origin Destination is the examination of the interaction between land use and trip making in respect to understanding commuting patterns. By using models of land use and transportation systems, travel demand can be estimated for future years. It is also possible to examine existing traffic patterns to develop an origin-destination table. This technique when used in small area analysis allows the testing of alternative improvement strategies such as constructing a new roadway.
